Mortgage Lenders Good And Bad

Mortgage lenders aren't all the same.

We won't just deal with any lender

Although Mates Rates has a great selection of lenders that we arrange home loans with, we won't just deal with anyone. That's because we care about you enough to back every mortgage we arrange with a Satisfaction Guarantee.

We want to make sure that your lender continues to look after you. Without doubt, lenders that regularly disappoint cause everybody too much stress and also cost us both too much money. But service is not the only thing we care about. A good lender offers a variety of different products at competitive prices.

The lenders that are listed below are grouped into two categories. Lenders that we won't deal with and lenders that we will. The lenders Mates Rates deals with are called our lending panel and our comparison of these lenders is impartial. The only thing that influences our recommendation to you is your needs and requirements.

Mortgage lenders that make the Mates Rates panel must actually be a lender and must also:

  • be willing to have their products compared apple-to-apple.
  • be regulated by the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA).
  • have a consistent and respected reputation in the market place.
  • offer a competitive range of products or be a leader in a specific home loan type.
  • pay us a commission so that we can pass that commission on to you as well as keep our service free to you.

In limited circumstances, Mates Rates also occasionally deals with select, specialist lenders for people and businesses that will not be accepted with conforming lenders at reasonable terms. However, we will always exhaust all avenues with traditional lenders before we consider or recommend a specialist lender solution.

Mortgage lenders we will deal with include

AMP
St George
National Australia Bank
Suncorp
Bankwest
The Rock Building Society
